New Mandy Moore Songs Will Pop Up On 'Walk To Remember' Soundtrack
Mandy Moore has contributed four songs to the soundtrack
for her new movie, "A Walk to Remember."
The album will include the new Moore songs "It's
Gonna Be Love" and "Only Hope," a cover of the
New Radicals' "Someday We'll Know" by Moore and Switchfoot's
John Foreman, and "Cry" from her self-titled album released
earlier this year.
"Cry" will be the first single off the
soundtrack, which is due January 15, according to an Epic Records
spokesperson. The movie, which stars Moore, Shane West ("Once
and Again"), Peter Coyote and Daryl Hannah, will hit theaters
January 25.
Switchfoot, a San Diego Christian rock trio, have
also contributed several songs to the soundtrack, including "Learning
to Breathe" and "I Dare You to Move" from their
latest album, Learning to Breathe.
The New Radicals' "Mother, We Just Can't Get
Enough" from their only album, 16-year-old Colorado singer
Rachael Lampa's "If You Believe," and British dance
act Toploader's "Dancing in the Moonlight" round out
the soundtrack.
"A Walk to Remember" marks Moore's second
foray into acting. She played a smaller role in the summer film
"The Princess Diaries" (see "Mandy Moore Tackles
New Album, Film Debut").
Based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks, "A Walk
to Remember" is about a teenage boy from the wrong side of
the tracks who falls in love with the daughter of the town's Baptist
minister, according to the spokesperson.
Moore is keeping a high profile on the small screen
as well. She recently filmed a segment for "Bravo on Broadway"
where she sang numbers from "Guys and Dolls" and "Little
Shop of Horrors." It will air on Bravo in February. She is
also slated to perform on CBS' "Home for the Holidays"
and TNT's "Christmas in Washington" in December, and
will host the inaugural MTV Asia Music Awards on February 2.
