Teen Celebrity Magazine
There's no way Mandy Moore can avoid comparisons
to Britney Spears--they're both perky, blonde teenage girls who
make radio-ready, dance-pop music that you just can't get out
of your head. But don't let the comparison stop you from giving
Moore's self-titled (sorry, I need to comment here--no, not self-titled!)
debut CD a listen; it's one of the catchiest discs to arrive at
the TC offices in months. The first single, "Candy,"
should take Moore straight to the top of the charts. The song
has an amazing hook that showcases Moore's powerful vocals, not
to mention ultra-cute lyrics that compare love to a sugar fix.
"Sweet to me/Like sugar to my heart/I'm cravin' for you/I'm
missin' you like candy." There's no lack of follow-up hits
on this CD, either, including the up-tempo treats "So Real"
and "What You Want." You'll be humming along to both
of those songs after just one listen. And Moore can deliver a
pretty ballad, too, as evidenced by the melancholy "Quit
Breakin' My Heart." Hey, if there's room for both BSB and
'N Sync on the charts, then there's room for Britney and Mandy
as well.
